Tired of anxiety hijacking your life?

Worry is an obstacle to getting quality sleep and feeling truly satisfied in your life. You find you are short with your loved ones - snapping at your partner and easily losing patience with your children. How exactly are you supposed to complete important work assignments and life tasks when you are rattled and it feels like your brain is freezing up?

You work so hard “to get it right” but still fear others will know you don't have it all together.

A deep breath? True relaxation? They feel out of reach—like something only other people get to experience. You miss out on opportunities or you endure them with anxious anticipation and agony. You would like to advocate for yourself at work and in your relationships, but the discomfort and worry of upsetting others wins out and you are left swallowing your feelings—again.

Maybe you often…

  • Find yourself worrying about nearly every aspect of your life: work, relationships, family, finances, health…what aren’t you worried about?

  • Feel like you are running through life pressured to anticipate the next steps you have to take to dodge something bad from happening in the future.

  • Have a growing knot in your stomach and feel like your body is riddled with tension - your chest, shoulders, back and neck are always tight.

  • Doubt yourself and feel like you’re never doing enough, even when others tell you you’re competent and successful.

  • Avoid the things that make you feel anxious or fearful, like initiating hard conversations, engaging in social events, and giving presentations at work.

What if you could lessen anxiety’s hold on you?

Therapy offers you the tools you’ve been missing—the user’s manual for anxiety.

Imagine being able to quickly identify anxiety’s “error codes” and implement practical workarounds to get you back online and moving forward.

Imagine your worry and tension fading as you move through life believing you can handle whatever comes your way—without needing to craft 397 contingency plans each day. Instead of avoiding the hard things, you’ve learned how to support yourself through them.

Imagine engaging with your loved ones with care and affection instead of impatience and irritation. The tone you take with yourself softens—not because you’ve lost your drive, but because you’ve added compassion and acceptance to it.

Stephanie George, LISW, sits on a blue couch with a thoughtful, gentle smile. Captures the grounded, compassionate presence she brings to holistic anxiety therapy in Columbus, integrating CBT, DBT, Gestalt, and somatic approaches.

I use a holistic approach in anxiety therapy, what I call a four-doors approach:

  • We’ll look at the thoughts fueling your anxiety and teach you how to catch them before they spiral into a mental hurricane. You’ll learn to reframe unhelpful thinking and replace self-criticism with more supportive self-talk.

  • You will become more aware of where you hold stress in your body and what parts light up first when you are feeling anxious. We will go over techniques you can use to scan for and release bodily tension.

  • Anxiety can change how you breathe—whether you’re holding your breath, breathing shallowly, or too fast. We’ll practice techniques to bring your breath back into balance, helping you feel more grounded and at ease.

  • We’ll get curious about your emotions—why they show up, what they’re trying to tell you, and how to respond to them without letting them take over. This includes gaining a better understanding of why you may be experiencing nervousness, anxiousness, worry, apprehension, overwhelm, fear and panic.

By opening each of these doors, you will be able to identify the early signs of anxiety and be well-equipped to navigate symptoms as they appear and in some cases, even before they appear!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Some of the signs that you may be experiencing anxiety include having lots of worry thoughts and worrying about many different things. You might be afraid that something bad might happen in the future and avoid things you fear. Maybe you carry a lot of tension in your body and become easily irritated. All of these things could be getting in the way of interacting with others and doing your work.

It is possible that you could be so used to living with anxiety that you don’t even know that it is anxiety. Expecting yourself to always get it right and pushing yourself to work harder can also be part of anxiety. We will go over questions together in our first appointment that can help sort out if you have anxiety.

  • The best fit for being in anxiety therapy is that you have a willingness to be in therapy and you get that making lasting change is a process that requires work. For the best results, the work extends beyond our scheduled therapy sessions into you practicing learned skills between our meetings and bringing your questions and observations into our next session. This will help us refine our approach and meet your goals for therapy.

  • I’m not able to predict the exact duration of therapy as this will vary based on symptoms and what you hope to achieve in therapy. We will map out your goals for therapy within our first two sessions and you can expect to begin learning new skills for managing anxiety as early as our second session together. We will regularly discuss your progress and evaluate whether your goals for therapy have been met.
