Getting Started Together

Starting therapy can bring up a lot—curiosity, nerves, even hesitation. Here's how the process unfolds, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect.

Step 1

A Free Consultation

Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is essential. In this brief video consult (15–20 minutes), you can ask questions, share what you're looking for, and get a feel for how I work. There's no pressure—we’re simply seeing if this feels like a good match for both of us. If we feel we are, we’ll move to step two.

Step 2

Your First Session

Once we decide to work together, we’ll schedule your first session which is an intake appointment. You’ll receive a secure telehealth link and access to my client portal to complete forms beforehand. This 60-minute session gives us space to talk more deeply about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you're hoping to gain.

Step 3

Ongoing Sessions

From here, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes and are tailored to your needs—whether you’re processing something big, building new skills, or learning to sit with your emotions differently. Our work is collaborative, supportive, and focused on the change you want to create.

Every step is designed with your comfort and needs in mind.

Insurance & Out-of-Network Benefits

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I am not contracted with insurance companies and only accept private payments for service. However, if your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. If you're interested in using out-of-network benefits, see the FAQ below for a guide when calling your insurance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer online therapy only for adults in Ohio. Telehealth makes therapy more accessible and convenient, allowing you to meet from the comfort of your own space—without the commute. Whether you’re at home, in a private office, or even traveling within the state, online therapy gives you flexibility while maintaining the same depth and quality of care.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, I ask for at least 24 hours' notice so I can offer the time to another client who may be waiting for an opening.

Life happens, and I understand that unexpected things come up. To maintain a consistent schedule for all clients, a $60 fee applies for cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice. Missed appointments without any notice are charged at $100.

Call the customer service number on your insurance card to ask:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible, and how much has been met?

    • What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed?

    • Do I need pre-authorization for out-of-network therapy?

    • How do I submit for reimbursement?

I can provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

  • If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected, therapy can help you gain clarity, navigate challenges, and build a more fulfilling life. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy—many of my clients are high-functioning adults who want deeper self-understanding, emotional relief, and better relationships.

I specialize in anxiety therapy, LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, and individual therapy for relationship issues, and I welcome clients who are ready to explore and grow at their own pace.

If you’re unsure whether therapy is the right step, let’s talk. I offer a free 15-20 minute consultation so you can ask questions and see if working together feels like the right fit.

  • The first session is about getting to know you. We’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what’s been weighing on you, and what you’d like to gain from our work together. There’s no pressure to have all the answers—I’ll guide the conversation while creating space for you to share at your own pace.

Together, we’ll begin to explore next steps and set a foundation for our work moving forward.

  • The length of time in therapy depends on your goals, needs, and the depth of the work we do together.

Some clients see noticeable changes within a few months. Others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper healing, self-exploration, and ongoing growth.

The frequency and duration of therapy are always tailored to what works best for you.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) outlining the expected costs of therapy.

This estimate provides transparent pricing information so there are no unexpected costs. While the number of sessions you may need is unique to you, I can discuss potential costs and answer any questions during our consultation or first session.
